A little about me.

I'm Lauren Scott — a wife, mom, pelvic floor physical therapist, and the founder of Innate.

I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy from Wichita State University and pursued additional specialized training through Herman & Wallace and ICE Physio. I've spent years helping women better understand their bodies through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

But becoming a mom myself gave me an entirely different perspective. Two very different birth experiences, a third baby on the way, and countless conversations with women along the way eventually led me to create Innate.

Why I Created Innate.

When I was pregnant with my first, I approached birth the way I think a lot of first-time moms do. I trusted my doctor, went to my appointments, and figured we'd take things as they came. And while there's nothing wrong with trusting your medical team, looking back, I realize how little I had done to prepare myself. When my water broke, I headed straight to the hospital without much understanding of what I could do during labor, what options I had, or even what questions to ask. I didn't know what I didn't know.

My second pregnancy looked a little different. After my first birth, I wanted to better understand the process. I spent that pregnancy learning, connecting with other women, preparing my body, and having thoughtful conversations with my OB about attempting a vaginal birth after Cesarean (VBAC). I went on to have a successful VBAC, and the difference in how prepared I felt stayed with me. It wasn't about everything going exactly according to plan. It was about having the knowledge and confidence to participate in the experience rather than simply react to it. Now, pregnant with my third, I'm genuinely excited to prepare for birth again.

Over the years, between treating patients and talking with friends and family in similar stages of life, I kept hearing some version of the same thing: “I want to prepare for birth, but I don't even know where to start.” Or, just as often, “There's so much information out there, it's overwhelming.” And I understood exactly what they meant.

There are endless podcasts, social media accounts, books, courses, and opinions about birth. Some of them are incredibly helpful. But sorting through all of it while you're pregnant can start to feel like another full-time job. I kept thinking there had to be a simpler way. I wanted to create something that brought the information I found most valuable into one place. Something easy to read, practical, and actually enjoyable to pick up.

And I wanted it to be physical. Because when you're in labor, the last thing I want you doing is scrolling through your phone trying to find that video you saved six months ago. I want you or your partner to be able to reach for a book, flip to a bookmarked page, and find what you need without disrupting the environment you've worked to create. That's where The Prepared Birth Guide began, and ultimately, where Innate began.

My hope is to make birth preparation feel less overwhelming and more approachable, regardless of what kind of birth you're planning. I'm not here to tell you there's one right way to do it. I just believe there's a lot of value in understanding your body, knowing your options, and feeling prepared for whatever the day brings.

And while birth is where Innate begins, my vision for this brand extends well beyond it. I want Innate to become a trusted resource women can turn to throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood.
